Three Bharatiya Janata Party leaders were on Wednesday arrested when they were on their way to Gorakhpur, which has witnessed violence over the last few days, police sources said.

The three -- former Union Minister Santosh Gangwar and party leaders Dharmendra Deo and Satyaprakash Ahluwalia -- had been sent to Gorakhpur by the BJP Central leadership to take stock of the situation.

They were arrested from the Vaishali Expres, which was bound for Gorakhpur.
