The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Centre on a petition challenging the 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes in central educational institutions.

The petition was filed by Youth For Equality, an NGO.

The petition challenges the Centre's January 7, 2007, notification as being unconstitutional and violative of the fundamental rights of other citizens.
