Bihar launches call centre under RTI Act
Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna | January 30, 2007 17:22 IST
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who formally opened the call centre on Monday, said applicants can call to ask for details and information. Callers will be able to register their complaints in languages like Hindi, Maithili and Bhojpuri.
"It is not a small thing. People now have the opportunity to know and get information easily through this call centre under RTI," Nitish said, adding that the concept was mooted a year ago.
The chief minister noted that all complaints received at the call centre will be passed on to the concerned department officials.
"People won't have to run around to register complaints against corrupt government officials or irregularities in developmental work," he said, pointing out that his first priority will always be governance.
