A powerful Programmable Time Device was recovered on Monday near the Sarusajai National Games sports complex near Assam capital Guwahati.

The powerful time device, weighing more than five kg, was found inside a gunny bag along with a hand grenade at an isolated place 3 km away from the new Sarusajai Sports complex at Boragaon, where a number of sports events of the National Games are slated to be held.

The police said the bag might have been placed by an ULFA militant on Sunday. The bomb was defused by experts.

The ULFA has given a boycott call of the national sports extravaganza scheduled to be held from February 9 to 18.
