The National Democratic Alliance will discuss the issue of land acquisition in Nandigram, which sparked off violence claiming several lives, Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh said in Kolkata on Tuesday.

Rajnath said that a five-member team of BJP members of Parliament led by Sushma Swaraj will visit Nandigram on Wednesday to get a first hand account of the situation there.

After returning to Delhi, the team will submit a report after which the issue would be deliberated by NDA, he said.

Rajnath, who arrived in Kolkata on Tuesday morning, discussed the issue with the state BJP leadership, including its president Sukumar Banerjee at the airport before leaving for Assam.

BJP state committee will discuss the Nandigram issue at its two-day meeting from January 12 to chalk out the future course of action, state BJP general secretary Rahul Sinha said.
