Indefinite curfew was on Monday clamped in Dibrugarh city following United Liberation Front of Asom attacks on non-Assamese people killing 64 people in Tinsukia, Dibrugarh and Sibsagar districts in the last four days.The curfew was imposed in Dibrugarh city from 1.40 pm.
Official sources in Dibrugarh said the prohibitory order was imposed as a preventive measure against peoples sentiments being aroused by a proposed procession through the town by Hindi-speaking people carrying their six dead killed by ULFA on Saturday at remote Charkhulia Sapori in Dibrugarh district.
The indefinite curfew in Tinsukia district and Doomdooma area continued, the sources added.
