The ULFA shot dead three Hindi- speaking persons in Golaghat and Dibrugarh districts of Assam and injured three others on Monday, taking the toll in attacks against non-Assameses people since Friday to 69, officials said.

Heavily armed militants raided a small village in Golaghat district and shot dead two Bihari labourers working in a field and injured two others, they said.

Militants also gunned down a person and injured another when they attacked a house at Sadu Nagari in the Duliajan area of Dibrugarh district at 8 pm, officials said.

Meanwhile, the curfew imposed at 1.40 pm in Dibrugarh city was withdrawn at 8.30 pm as there were no untoward incidents there.

The curfew was clamped to prevent migrant workers from taking out a procession with bodies of six persons killed in the district.

The state government on Monday made an official appeal to all political leaders to postpone their trips to Upper Assam so that security agencies could carry out their work properly.

''It is an appeal,'' said Dr Sharma admitting the chaos.

On Sunday night, even before the paramilitary forces were moved from Karbi Anglong to NC Hills district and Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaisawl reached New Delhi after visiting Assam, the ULFA again struck the Hindi-speaking populace.

Attacking a village under Kakotibari police station in Sivasagar district of Upper Assam, they killed at least seven Bihari persons and injured three others.

Militants riding motorcycles, opened indiscriminate fire on Bihari brick kiln workers who were staying in a rented house of one Girija Konwar.

In another incident, ULFA ultras struck at a brick kiln in Moran, owned by one Pawan Halali and shot dead one Jai Mangal Sah and injured two others. In another incident, unidentified militants shot dead a businessman at Kachugaon in Kokrajhar district at around 6:45 pm, Sharma said.
