Tirupati temple gets record offerings

A first in temple history, the world famous Venkateswara Temple's hundi registered a record collection of over Rs 1 crore every day in the past ten days from December 23, including sums of Rs 2.1 crore on Vaikunta Ekadasi day and Rs 1.85 crore on January 1.

The total collection came to about Rs 14 crore as against Rs 7.84 crore during the annual Brahmotsavam.

Apart from the money, the hundi was full of precious stones, gold and silver articles and coins, a TTD official said on Wednesday.
