The Congress has secured 30 seats in the 60-member Manipur Assembly, election officials clarified on Wednesday.

Officials had earlier said that Congress had won 29 seats.

The error was due to the wrong declaration that NCP candidate Kunjo Singh had won from Hiyanglam constituency, officials said.

Congress candidate E Dwijamani Singh was elected from Hiyanglam constituency defeating CPI candidate E Biramani by 567 votes, they said.

The final Manipur position is:

Congress 30; Manipur People's Party 5; NCP 5; CPI 4; RJD 3; National People's Party 3; Independents 10.
