A Lashker-e-Tayiba terrorist was killed and another injured in a gun battle with security forces in Kupwara district on Monday morning, officials said.

The militants hiding in a house in Songom, about 100 km from Srinagar, opened fire at a raiding party consisting of personnel from Rashtriya Rifles and state police after they cordoned off the village, they said.

The identity of the militants was not known immediately.

In another incident, militants in Pulwama district shot at a man on Sunday night.

The militants barged into the house of one Sheeraj Ahmed Mir at Ahloora Shopian, 65 km from Srinagar, and fired at him. Mir was referred to Srinagar for treatment, officials said.
