Two Central Reserve Police Force soldiers were killed in a militant attack at Sangam area in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon.

Militants fired at a road opening party of the CRPF on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, instantly killing two troopers, CRPF Inspector General S K Singh told rediff.com.

The militants decamped with an automatic rifle belonging to one of the slain troopers, he added.

The area has been cordoned off. The search operations led to traffic disruption on the Srinagar Jammu highway.

Meanwhile, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
