The Umra police have registered a complaint against a staffer of an eveninger for allegedly sending slanderous e-mails to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, police sources said on Tuesday.

Publisher Pravin Gohil of Gujarati eveninger Pratap Darpan filed a complaint on Monday against his employee Alpesh Sapkal, a computer operator.

He stated that Sapkal had sent 25 slanderous e-mails on December 11 last year to Gandhi from the office computer by using different e-mail IDs, without Gohil's knowledge, the sources said.

Gohil alleged that the mails were sent with the intention to defame Visat Prakashan, publishers of the eveninger.

No arrest had been made so far, sources added.
