Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Monday welcomed the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal's order on the water row and hoped that Karnataka would implement it.

"We welcome the final order of the Tribunal," he told reporters when they sought his reaction on the Tribuanl's award.

Karunanidhi, who was in New Delhi for annual plan discussions, said, "We hope Karnataka will implement the Tribunal order."

He said he had discussed the Cauvery water issue with 11 chief ministers in the past and only now a decision has been arrived at.

Asked whether Tamil Nadu would file a review petition, the chief minister said he would consult lawyers, political parties and farmers on the issue.
