Manu Sharma, sentenced to life for the murder case of model Jessica Lal, on Friday filed an appeal in the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court's judgment.

Sharma, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Delhi High Court on December 20 after being held guilty for murdering Lal, filed the appeal assailing the grounds of his conviction and sought the reversal of the order.

Two others -- Vikas Yadav, son of controversial Uttar Pradesh politician D P Yadav, and Amardeep Singh Gill alias Tony, an executive with a multinational company -- were sentenced to four years imprisonment for conspiring with Sharma, son of politician Venod Sharma, to destroy the evidence in the case.

A trial court had on February 21 last year acquitted all nine accused due to lack of evidence against them, leading to massive public outrage.
