2 cops dismissed for flogging chain snatcher Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna | August 31, 2007 12:42 IST Two Bihar policemen were dismissed from the service for flogging a chain snatcher. The incident created a countrywide hue and cry. Mohammad Aurangzeb alias Saleem, a youth with a criminal record in Nathnagar town in Bhagalpur district, was first severely beaten up by a mob on Monday after he was caught trying to snatch a woman's gold chain. After that, he was tied to a motorcycle and dragged along the road by two the policeman. DIG (Eastern range) Girjanand Sharma confirmed that the two policemen -- Ramchandra Rai and L B Singh -- were dismissed. "They were dismissed for violation of human rights," Sharma said. The government had suspended the two policemen and issued a show cause notice to them two days ago.
