Sending clear signals of their resentment with the Gujarat Congress, three senior leaders on Tuesday attended a public function of Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Billimora town of Valsad district.

"We are in favour of the way the Bharatiya Janata Party government works. Modi is our leader," Congress MLA from Surat, Manish Gilletwala told the gathering in the presence of Modi and two of his party colleagues Shankarbhai Warli (MLA, Ummergaon) and Bhaghubhai Vimal (ex-minister).

The other two Congress leaders did not make any public announcement about their presence in a BJP function or their intention to join it but just sat through the event.

Modi also seized the occasion and said, "We welcome the three," but the Chief Minister did not elaborate if they were joining the BJP.

Gilletwala has previously also attended Modi's public functions and sat next to him. Two days ago he had said that he would join the BJP and announce this in a public function.

The Gujarat Congress however has refused to acknowledge any infighting within the party and even senior leader Kapil Sibal, during his recent visit to Ahmedabad, had rubbished media reports of infighting.
