Kafeel Ahmed's family says it still does not have any confirmation regarding his death, though the Bangalore-based engineer, who was named a key suspect in the failed car bomb attack at the Glasgow international airport, succumbed to his wounds at the special burns unit of the Glasgow Royal Infirmary on August 3.

The family's lawyer B T Venkatesh also added that unless there is an official confirmation, there is no question of claiming the body from the United Kingdom.

The Bangalore police too claim they have not received any communication from their counterparts in the UK about Kafeel. The police say neither they nor the family have been told in clear terms that the person who died was indeed Kafeel.

Kafeel is the elder son of Bangalore doctor couple Maqbool Ahmed and Zakia Ahmed.  The couple's younger son Sabeel Ahmed, who is a doctor, is facing trial in Britain on charges of withholding information on the terror plot.

Kafeel's family had initially denied that the person involved was their son. Later, they told the police that on viewing the television clips repeatedly they suspected it could be their son. A few days ago, the family did another flip and said they cannot confirm the identity of the person who died in the UK.
