United Liberation Front of Asom militants on Wednesday exploded four bombs in Assam's Dhubri and Bongaigaon districts as Independence Day celebrations were in progress, injuring two persons.

Official sources said two persons were injured when the proscribed militant outfit exploded two improvised explosive devices near the Gandhi Maidan parade ground in Bongaigaon town at 8.23 am.

The parade ground is adjacent to the police reserve and about 150 mt away from the I-Day celebration venue.

In neighbouring Dhubri district, the insurgents detonated two bombs near the parade ground adjacent to the Mahamaya Sanskrit Tol (school) at Gauripur, but none was injured.

The first Programmable Time Devise kept near an electric transformer went off at 8.38 am, while the next one kept in an open space 30 mt away exploded around 9.05 am as the flag hoisting ceremony was on.
