Govinda fails to turn up for VP poll

Actor-turned-politician Govinda [Images] on Friday failed to turn up to vote in the vice-presidential election. Govinda, a Member of  Parliament from Mumbai, told Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi that he could not vote after he got injured in a fracas in Mumbai.

Dasmunsi is said to have complained to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's [Images] political secretary Ahmed Patel. Patel called up the actor and expressed his party's displeasure, sources said.

The minister said former coal minister Sibu Soren, lodged in a Jharkhand jail, could not vote as he was not keeping well.
