The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday filed a status report on initiation of extradition process relating to Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi in the Bofors kickback case.

Filing the status report in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Anil Kumar Sisodia, counsel for CBI Navin Kumar Matta stated that Quattrocchi's identity has been confirmed.

He has expressed his intention to contest the extradition process, which is yet to start in Argentina, said the counsel.

The status report says that the Swiss authorities' stand was in response to the letter rogatory issued by the trial court in 2006.

The court has fixed June 4 as the next date of hearing.

Quattrocchi was detained in Argentina on February 6 at Iguazu international airport while in transit to Buenos Aires on an Interpol notice.
