Sarangi, wife of Pravin Mahajan, the main accused in the Pramod Mahajan murder case, told a court in Mumbai that she had been threatened by persons allegedly from the Bharatiya Janata Party while she was outside the courtroom on Thursday.

Sarangi told the sessions court, conducting trial in the murder of the BJP leader, that she had been threatened and manhandled by some persons while she was waiting outside the court on Thursday morning.

Judge S P Davre asked her to file an application stating the same through her lawyer by Friday.

Speaking to reporters outside the court, Sarangi said some persons had told her to move from where she was sitting and threatened her when she refused to do so.

"It has been happening since the testimony of Rekha Mahajan (widow of Pramod Mahajan). Tomorrow, my lawyer will file an application before the court."

Sarangi has to stand outside the court during the recording of other witnesses statements since she herself is a witness in the case.

Earlier, the court adjourned proceedings for the day after the prosecution sought more time to investigate the statement made by BJP General Secretary Gopinath Munde, who had said Pramod had received a threatening SMS from Pravin.

Munde, a witness in the case and brother-in-law of Pramod, had told the court on Wednesday that Pravin had allegedly sent the SMS a few days prior to the shooting on April 22, 2006.
