Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said he was hopeful of campaigning for the Congress in Uttar Pradesh.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul have been the star campaigners of the party in the state so far.

Dr Singh, however, refused to comment on the controversial CD and ad blitz by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state saying that the Election Commission is looking into them.

"These are election issues. I would not like to comment," he said. "The Election Commission is looking into these issues," he said when asked to comment on the BJP's distribution of the CD and the advertisement in the newspapers.
