Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the 50-day golden jubilee celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram to mark Kerala's formation on November 1.

Dr Singh accepted an invitation extended by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan when the latter called on him at his official residence in New Delhi on Monday morning along with his cabinet colleagues.

During the visit, the details of which are yet to be worked out, the prime minister is likely to lay the foundation stone for a new international terminal at the airport in the state capital, Achuthanandan said after the meeting.

The chief minister, accompanied by Finance Minister M A Baby, also reiterated his government's demand for a special package on the lines of Vidharba to assist the state's crisis-ridden agriculture sector during the nearly 30-minute meeting.
