Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy on Saturday said that the state police has constituted a Special Investigation Team to trace out the network of those involved in the manufacture and supply of rockets and other weapons to Maoists in the state.

Thanking both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu state police for seizure of empty rocket shells and launchers meant for Maoists, the home minister said that the police have intensified its efforts to trace out the 'roots' behind the 'arms supply chain' for Maoists.

Earlier, Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had held a review meeting to discuss the 'rockets seizure case'.

Besides the home minister, Director-General of Police Swaranjit Sen, Additional DGP (Intelligence) K Aravinda Rao and other senior officials participated in the meeting.

Jana Reddy made it clear that the government was firm to check violent activities and maintain law and order by continuing combing operations against the Maoists in various parts of the state. In addition to seizure of weapons, the police was now on the job to find the roots for manufacture and supply of weapons to Maoists, he added.

The home minister was confident that the police would nab Raghu alias Srinivas Reddy and his wife Sudharani, both belonging to Communist Party of India-Maoist, who were the prime accused in the case.

Already, seven persons were taken into custody in the weapons seizure case by Tamil Nadu police, he pointed out.
