Taking seriously Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's assertion that none was above law, an MLA of Bihar's ruling Janta Dal-United has lodged an FIR against his son for allegedly threatening a shopkeeper for extortion.

The FIR was lodged with Fatuha police in rural Patna Tuesday night against Bhim Paswan on the basis of the MLA Saryu Paswan's written complaint. The shopkeeper, who runs a shop under public distribution system, had approached the legislator complaining of harassment for money.

The chief minister has on several occasions said nobody is above law irrespective of caste, creed or political affiliation. FIRs have been filed against JD-U MLAs Sunil Pandey and Anant Singh in the recent past on criminal charges.
