Weather keeps Vajpayee away from Dehradun meet Onkar Singh in Dehradun | September 08, 2006 13:36 IST
Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee may skip the Bharatiya Janata Party's national executive in Dehradun. Though senior leaders maintained that the senior leader will make it on time for the public meeting at 4 pm, information coming in from New Delhi is not very encouraging. Vajpayee's special plane does not have permission to take off before 2 pm and taking into account the low clouds in Dehradun, it is unlikely that he will be in Dehradun on time. The scenic Uttaranchal capital also experienced thundershowers on Friday morning. Even at 11 am, visibility at nearby Mussoorie was reduced to 200 metres, thanks to thick fog in the surrounding hills. Vajpayee could not come for the opening session on Friday morning because of illness. He went to the party headquarters to sing Vande Mataram on the national song's centenary. On the second day of the convention at Hotel Pacific, the party will pass two key resolutions, including one on the rising prices of essential commodities.
