Delhi government has issued a circular instructing all its officials to assemble at the Secretariat on Thursday morning to sing Vande Mataram to commemorate the occasion of 100 years of its adoption as the national song.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will recite Vande Mataram along with the staff on the occasion, said sources in the government.

Besides, various public functions will be held at various government departments including Hindi Bhavan to mark the occasion.

In Delhi government schools, Vande Mataram will be recited during the national song's centenary celebrations. However, it will not be mandatory for the students to sing it.

"Delhi government schools have been asked to hold rendition of the national songs. But it will be upto the students to choose whether they want to sing it or not," said sources.
