September 06, 2006 18:35 IST
Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi has given the Arjun Munda government seven days to prove its majority in the assembly, Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari announced on Wednesday.
The beleaguered chief minister had earlier in the day met the Governor and demanded that he be given an opportunity to prove majority on the floor of the assembly.
The Jharkhand Cabinet will meet on Thursday in the wake of resignation and withdrawal of support by four ministers to the National Democratic Alliance government in the state.
According to a two-line official release, the cabinet is scheduled to meet at 2:00 pm.
