Is politics in the genes?

 

Sharad Pawar's [Images] daughter Supriya is the latest political heir, but surely she won't be the last.

 

In a democracy that has an inexplicable fondness for dynasties, the world of politics has been no exception.

 

From the nation's first family � the Gandhis � to latest entrant Supriya Sule, a powerful surname has meant a lot at the hustings.

 

However, does this mean that only those with a political pedigree stand to make it to the top, the rest consigned to sideshows and petty assignments? Does this then shut the door on committed youth?
