Much to the dismay of agitating traders in Delhi, the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee on Tuesday asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to resume its sealing drive from November 2.

The committee directed the civic body to resume the drive from Thursday instead of Wednesday, MCD sources told PTI.

They said the committee was of the opinion that in view of the traders bandh on Wednesday, the sealing should be resumed from day after.

Earlier, the court-ordered drive was to resume from November 1.

Civic body officials are also expected to meet the members of the committee on Wednesday to work out the modalities and other logistic factors while resuming the drive, which had been suspended due to the festive season.

Meanwhile, the MCD on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court seeking protection for over 40,000 traders, who have given an undertaking to stop misuse of the premises.
