DMK-led alliance captures Coimbatore, Tirupur

Dravida Munnethra Kazhagam-led Democratic Progressive Alliance has captured the 72-ward Coimbatore City Corporation by winning 49 seats in the polls held on October 13.

In the official results declared in all the wards, DMK secured 29 wards, Congress 8, Communist Party of India (Marxist) 8, CPI 4, All India Anna Dravida Munnethra Kazhagam 10, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnethra Kazhagam 2, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam 3, Bharatiya Janata Party 1 and independents 7.
