Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh has asked the United Progressive Alliance government to summon the Pakistani High Commissioner, Aziz Ahmed Khan and ask for an explanation on Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri's statement that Pakistan will fight for Mohammed Afzal's clemency.

Afzal has been sentenced to death for his role in the Parliament attack case.

Singh has said that the Indian government must make it very clear that Pakistan cannot 'meddle in our internal affairs'. He said it must be emphasised that India will sever diplomatic ties with Pakistan 'if this continues'.

Singh was speaking at a function to remember those who lost their lives in the Delhi blasts last year.
