Curfew was relaxed for two hours in Mangalore on Sunday morning and in Ullal, Konaje and Mangalore rural limits, which were hit by communal violence leaving two persons dead in the last three days.

Barring the attack on the occupants of an ambulance on Saturday night, in which six persons were injured with one succumbing to injuries later, no other incident had been reported, district Superintendent of Police B Dayanand told PTI.

"The situation is under control now," he said. Curfew had been relaxed between 9 am and 11 am, he said.

Violence had erupted on Wednesday after Bajrang Dal activists stopped a vehicle carrying cattle to a slaughter house.
