India has shared with the US evidence regarding involvement of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence and Pakistan-based terror groups like Lashker-e-Tayiba in the July 11 Mumbai blasts.

"We had discussions" on evidence and other aspects of the incident, US Ambassador to India David C Mulford told reporters in New Delhi.

The discussions were held after Mumbai police stated that investigations into the terror attacks had revealed involvement of the ISI and LeT. He, however, refused to go into specifics.

Mulford said the US and India were together in fight against terrorism and that Washington had offered its services in investigations into the Mumbai bombings, particularly in forensic examinations.

"We are working with the Indian government," he said. The envoy underlined that there can be no excuse for terrorism and that the US rejects terrorism "however it happens, wherever it happens".

Expressing happiness at the state of cooperation in counter-terrorism between India and the US, he said these could be improved further. India is planning to present the evidence to Pakistan under the Joint Mechanism against terrorism proposed to be set up soon.
