Tabasum Guru, wife of Afzal Guru, set to be hanged on October 20 for his involvement in the attack on Parliament in 2001, on Tuesday filed a mercy petition with President A P J Abdul Kalam.

Tabasum, along with her seven-year-old son Ghalib, filed the petition seeking commutation of the death sentence with the Kalam's office, said Nandita Haksar, an activist and lawyer who is spearheading a campaign to save Afzal from gallows.
