A section of the K Karunakaran-led Democratic Indira Congress (K), which was against the merger moves with Nationalist Congress Party, will return to the Congress before October 30 at a function at Thrissur. This was announced by former minister P Sankaran on Tuesday.

Addressing a convention of DIC-K workers who had decided to part ways with the party, Sankaran said former chief minister A K Antony and a host of Congress leaders will be participating in the function.

The merger is likely to be on October 28, he said.

Among those who participated in today's meeting were Shobana [Images] George, Maliath Sarala Devi, V Balaram, N D Appachan, D Sugathan, all former MLAs. K B Mohammedkutty Master, DIC-K Ernakulam district president, who has also decided to severe his links with the party, also took part in today's meeting. Sankaran said district level meetings of the anti-merger faction will conclude by October 20.
