Use of Bangladeshi territory by Pakistan-based terrorist groups against India has come to the notice of the government which has asked Dhaka to take "concrete and sustained action" not to allow it, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.

"There have been incidents of terrorist violence in India where use of Bangladeshi soil by anti-India elements as well as Pakistan-based terrorist groups has come to the notice of the government," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply in the House.

He said Bangladesh government has assured India at the highest level that its territory will not be allowed to be used for activities inimical to India.

"India has emphasised to them the need for concrete and sustained action towards fulfilling this assurance," he said.

Mukherjee said India has also regularly taken up the issue of illegal immigration with Bangladesh government.
