The Gujarat High Court on Monday ordered Gandhinagar Urban Development Authority to reopen around 100 sealed shops inside Gujarat's InfoCity campus in the state capital.

GUDA had sealed around 100 shops inside InfoCity campus, set up for promotion of information technology, on November 3 alleging they had come up in places meant for offices.

Justice Kamal Mehta gave reprieve to the Shop Owners Association of InfoCity against the sealing drive.

"After the order, GUDA has started the work of reopening the shops," advocate for the shop owners Pinakin Rawal said.

Creative Infocity Ltd had set up the InfoCity IT park in a joint venture with the Gujarat Government in 2001.

Rawal said they submitted to the court that the shops inside the InfoCity were not illegal as claimed by GUDA and were as per the Town Planning Act.
