The State Vigilance Organisation on Friday registered a case of disproportionate assets against a senior official of Jammu and Kashmir State Industrial Corporation, officials said.

The case was registered against Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Deputy General Manager, SICOP, who was later detained, an SVO spokesman said.

SVO sleuths raided Khan's residence on Friday morning following complaints of corruption against him, he said. Khan's residence, whose main gate alone was said to cost Rs 4 lakh, was worth around Rs 3 crore, the spokesman said, adding that Khan paid a premium of up to Rs 3 lakh annually on insurance policies bought in the name of his family members.

Khan also allegedly purchased a plot of land worth Rs 1 crore recently. The search till now has led to seizure of many incriminating documents, including details of bank accounts and insurance policies, the spokesman said.
