Toeing the line of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Lal Kishenchand Advani, the party national executive on Tuesday demanded setting up of an expert committee to ensure that while implementing OBC quota, merit should not be squeezed and excellence of institutions not compromised.

The committee must ensure that benefits of reservation reach the most deprived among the socially-deprived sections and the economically-weaker section of the upper castes are included in the benefits of quota, the party said in a political resolution on the concluding day of its two-day national executive in New Delhi.
