With a view to keep the organisational secretaries away from the cesspool of power politics, The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday laid down a code of conduct for them providing for their exclusion from elections.

On the second day of the BJP National Executive, senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu proposed the dos and don'ts, which directs the organisational secretaries to shun any kind of publicity, party sources told PTI.

The guidelines also provided that in the event of the secretaries wanting to enter electoral politics, they would have to resign from their posts and remain in an incubation period of two years.

The saffron party had on Monday amended its constitution to give sweeping powers to its president Rajnath Singh to appoint and remove Sangh nominees as party organising secretaries from the district level upwards.
