Pakistan should grab the opportunity to resolve the Kashmir issue with India as the Indian leadership has never been as positive in its determination to improve ties with Pakistan as it is now, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said.

"The Indian leadership had never been as positive about Pakistan as it is today and New Delhi wants to resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue," Rehman told reporters in Lahore [Images] on Thursday on his return from a ten-day visit to India.

The MMA leader who had extensive interaction with the Indian leadership, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images], leaders of the Congress and opposition parties, said the 'change of attitude in India has presented an opportunity to resolve the Kashmir issue and it should be grabbed.'

He claimed the Indian political leadership, particularly Prime Minister Manmohan Singh appeared positive about Pakistan's proposals on resolving Kashmir.

"The Indian Prime Minister said that all proposals put forwarded by Pakistan were under active consideration," he was quoted as saying in The Dawn on Friday.

Dr Singh said he considered that Pakistan's stability is in the best interests of India, according to Rehman.

On trade, he said the India was keen on promoting it with Pakistan, and offered to hold dialogue to find ways to remove Pakistan's 'reservations' about any possible damage to its industry.
