Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, chairman of the All Party Hurriyat Conference, has denied that Hurriyat would take part in the round table conference in Srinagar [Images] on May 25. A national daily had carried the report on Tuesday morning that Hurriyat would participate in the deliberations.

"I categorically deny the news report," Mirwaiz told rediff.com on phone from Srinagar.

"In fact we were shocked to read the news report ourselves. The All Party Hurriyat Conference would meet on May 22 to take a decision on whether or not to participate," he said.

Earlier Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat had told rediff.com that he was not aware of any decision regarding participation in the round table conference.

"Please ask Mirwaiz sahib," he said.

Sources close to prime minister's office are confident that the Hurriyat leaders would come around and realize the importance of participating in the Sringar round able conference.
