Sonia is back!
May 15, 2006

Congress president Sonia Gandhi's [Images] daugher Priyanka Vadra on Monday said her mother stands for certain values in life and her victory in the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha by-election was an endorsement of these values.

"My mother stands for certain set of values. She strives to uphold them in her life and every step that she has taken has been in accordance to them," she told reporters soon after Sonia took oath as Member of Lok Sabha.

Sonia had earlier resigned her Lok Sabha seat in the wake of the office of profit controversy. It was argued that people holding an office of profit should not be members of Parliament.

Priyanka and her husband Robert Vadra watched Sonia taking oath from the visitors' gallery.

Priyanka said her mother's victory in Rae Bareli was an endorsement of those values by the people of India. "I am very proud of her, proud of my brother and also proud of the people of Rae Bareli for endorsing her", she said.
