A Meerut court has directed the police to register a case against noted painter M F Husain for allegedly making objectionable and obscene paintings of Hindu gods and goddesses.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashok Pathak on Wednesday gave the directions on a case filed by one Prempal Singh on March 20.

In his complaint, Singh claimed that he had seen Husain's paintings on a website, which had "hurt his religious feelings".
