Scorpene: Verma's threat cover up attempt, says BJP

March 25, 2006 17:34 IST

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday said arms dealer Abhishek Verma's threat to file a defamation suit against Lal Kishenchand Advani and other leaders was the "worst type of cover up attempt" and demanded suspension of the Scorpene submarine deal.

What is a Scorpene?

BJPalso asked the government to come clean on the issue of the Scorpene deal and "war room leakage," demanding a probe against Verma and Naval chief Admiral Arun Prakash's close relative Ravi Shankaran in connection with the two cases.

"It is an irony that Verma is threatening to sue L K Advani, Jaswant Singh and George Fernandes for defamation. This is the worst type of cover up attempt," BJP spokesman Prakash Javedkar told reporters in New Delhi.
