Gujarat legislative assembly has revoked the suspension of six Congress legislators after a senior party member expressed regrets over the March nine incident that had led to their suspension.

Congress party legislator Maljibhai Desai at the end of assembly proceedings late Saturday night, expressed 'regret' over the incident and described it as 'unfortunate.'

On March 9, legislators of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and opposition Congress had hurled abuses at each other and nearly came to blows during the Question Hour over a land allotment question, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the proceedings twice.

The legislators were suspended for their 'unruly' behaviour during the incident. He urged the house to reconsider the suspension of the six Congress legislators keeping in mind the best parliamentary tradition of the assembly.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ashok Bhatt later moved a proposal urging the house to withdraw the suspension of Congress legislators Paresh Dhanani, Jagdish Thakor, Baldev Thakor, Manish Gilletwala, Punjabhai Vansh and Chabbildas Patel. The House accepted the proposal unanimously.
