1 killed in Meerut clash

A man belonging to the minority community was shot dead and three others wounded in an inter-community clash in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh Friday.

Deputy Inspector General (Meerut) R K Vishwakarma said in Meerut the clash took place on a petty issue between two groups related to Bahujan Samaj Party member of Parliament Shahid Eklaq.

In the subsequent firing by one group, one Shakib was killed and three others including the MP's brother in law were wounded.

The MP's brother in law Haji Khan has been admitted to the hospital in a critical condition, Vishwakarma added.

Meanwhile, PAC personnel have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.
