The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has entered into seat adjustments with the Asom Gana Parishad in nine seats for the upcoming assembly polls in Assam, although there is no formal alliance between them.

Releasing the list of 16 party candidates, CPI(M) state unit secretary Uddhab Barman told reporters on Sunday that both parties were not entering into a full-fledged alliance and the CPI(M) would not be jointly campaigning with the AGP.

Barman also denied media reports that the party was entering into an alliance with Nationalist Congress Party. He said that the CPI(M)'s main aim was to ensure the defeat of the Congress and the BJP in the state.

List of CPI(M) candidates: Uddhab Barman (Sorbhog), Nizamuddin Khan (Sarukhetri), Ananta Deka (Rangiya), Abdul Karim Bhuyan (Jania), Abul Hussain (Hajo), Prankrishna Das (Paneri), Tarun Nath (Borsola), Robin Tamuly(Rangapara), Jadu Hazarika (Dhakuakhana), Maneswar Barman (Digboi), Dibya Konwar (Naharkatiya), Suprakash Talukdar (Dispur), Dulal Mitra (Silchar), Ansar Ul Haque (Katigora), Ramendra Dey (Badarpur) and Gajen Barman(Bijni).
