The railway ministry Wednesday announced ex-gratia of Rs 1,00,000 to the next of kin of those who died in the explosion at the Cantonment railway station in Varanasi.

Those seriously injured would be sanctioned Rs 25,000 each while those with minor injuries will get Rs 1,000 each, Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu announced after visiting the accident site.

He said the ministry would bear all expenses of food, medicine and accommodation of the injured persons during the period of treatment.

A committee comprising Railway Police Force, Government Railway Police and commercial department officials will be set up to probe the incident, Velu said.

Security arrangements at all railway stations would be reviewed before taking appropriate measures for putting in place fool-proof measures against such blasts, he added.
